Account Safety Warning
シリアル-VRecently, there has rise in hacked Discord accounts spreading spam and malicious links. We urge people to stay cautious, enable 2FA, and avoid interacting with untrusted links, bots, or activities.
Over the past few days, we have observed an influx of Discord accounts being hacked and used for spam, please read the following as it pertains to you, to keep yourself and others safe.
Keep Yourself Safe
Do not click on any links or follow instructions from these accounts, no matter who you think it is being sent by, the most common examples of this spam are fake photos of an influencer promoting a product or app and NSFW Discord servers. Enable 2FA to prevent your account from being hacked, follow these instructions to do so: User Settings > My Account > Enable Two-Factor Auth.
Application Permissions and Activities
Do not interact with any bots that are not trusted or you are not familiar with, this includes interaction buttons and links. Also, do not join or launch any activities (such as the ones launched in Voice Channels) that you do not know or trust.
Server Owners and Staff
If you see a user's account being used for spam, do not ban them, as this will prevent them from joining back if they recover the account. Instead, softban or kick them, a softban will ban, then unban immediately, removing all messages unless specified otherwise. If you do kick the member, be sure to remove all spam messages.
If You Are DM'd
If you receive a DM containing spam content from someone you know, click "Ignore" on the user's profile, this will stop notifications and hide messages from them, but will make it easier for them to contact you if they recover the account.
Impersonation
We are yet to observe this, but some hacked accounts may be used to impersonate other users, so be careful when communicating with others, and never give up your personal information.
