Build Challenge: Steampunk Airship

When coming up with ideas for build challenges, we’re always looking for ways the community can take us to new heights – and this theme is no different. Taking us up, up, up into the friendly skies, the theme this time is Steampunk Airship!

For this challenge, participants were asked to build a Steampunk-themed airship. The build needed to be of a decent size and participants were required to work alone.

So, which creations had us floating on cloud nine?

1^st place: Merrick

Merrick’s entry is an airship that is stopping for fuel and repairs. Makes you wonder what the maintenance costs on an airship would be compared to a car – at least they don’t need any tires!

2^nd place: !Seggie

This submission from !Seggie is pretty spectacular. This is an “IKAE Airship, a cargo-warfare hybrid steampunk dirigible. Comes with a detachable ship as a getaway vehicle.” We bet the views from the IKAE are breathtaking.

3^rd place: Sq

Finally, floating in, we have Sq and their amazing airship. The details on this one were just too good. The billowing steam, multiple sails, and the dangling anchors are making us wish we were a crewmember!
