Happy Holidays

Aaah, the end times! No wait, I mean: Aaaaah, the end of the year; a time of reflection, relaxation, and making promises you’re 99.9% likely to break before the end of January. But it’s also a time for creativity, to sit down and finally build that work of art or customize a character to perfection you’ve been thinking about for so long. You have, right? Riiiiight?
I’m doing my best here to set up a seemingly seamless segue, but since I’m failing miserably, let me cut to the chase: 2022 is coming to an end, and with only a day remaining before we leave this old ghoul behind, as is tradition, the writers of Minecraft.net would like to once again wish you Happy New Year!
We do so by taking one last look at the old year, as well as some of our own personal builds. With some luck, it’ll inspire you to create something from the ground up. Speaking of ground: since I’m already rambling, let me share you my dirt house-level build from me and my sister’s survival realm. For years, I’ve been working on my tall – and I mean tall – tower I started constructing back in 2016. Gaze upon its towering glory!
What is The Tower in Minecraft Dungeons compared to this beast?
With the current pace, I’m optimistic to have it completed by 2057. Then, finally, I can be featured in on my very own community highlights like the ones we’ve covered here over the years?
But we have lots more to share than my humble jerry-build. Someone who’s been having a fun year and almost don’t want it to end is Minecraft.net’s very own Sophie Austin who’s been busy building all sorts of epic works – but also scaring the living daylights out of her colleagues. What did you think of 2022, Sophie?
Sophie: Luna is a lot less inclined to eat this mud base than she was the gingerbread house I built for last year’s holiday greeting!
Now, I think you think my build is ancient, you haven’t met the all-knowing Associate Minecraft Professor Duncan Geere. Tell me Duncan, how long have you written for this honorable site?
Next up is Cristina, who’s been covering all the juicy details on our upcoming title Minecraft Legends. What an absolute legend! And because I just made that joke, I’ll have no choice but to fire myself before the start of the new year. What did you think about 2022, Cris?
From one Cristina to another (yes, I put them next to each other just for the sake of this transition), we welcome Kristina, who’s heading up our very own Community page here on Minecraft.net!
I'm not too sure I would turn it off, actually. Seems the gray scenery below could use some color! Someone that also has a machine is Sofia, and a nifty one at that!
Good words to live by! I laugh at my work every day! Next up is Oskar, star writer of Minecraft.net’s most popular column: New on Java Realms. One could only guess what this distinguished gentleman wish for at the end of the year. Or you could ask him, literally.
Well, it’s all good until they go “Ssssss....”. Last, but certainly not least is Lindsey who, just like Kristina, covers our vast community over at the Community Page (yes, do check it out). What was your greatest work this year, Lindsey?
From all of us here at Minecraft.net, we wish you the best of endings to 2022 and the best of beginnings to 2023! May your builds be beautiful and your caves full of diamond ore!
Happy Minecrafting and see you next year!
