Herschel Backpack Trials add-on

If you’re a Minecraft player, you understand the importance of stuff. It both motivates and fuels our adventures. We brave the mysterious depths of the Overworld, climb slippery peaks, dodge lava in the Nether, and take on the Ender Dragon – all to get more stuff. Useful stuff, cool stuff, rare stuff! We crave it all.
But sometimes, our humble inventory can’t keep up with our love for stuff. That’s where the free Herschel Backpack Trials add-on comes in! It’s available now at Minecraft Marketplace, and it comes with a wearable backpack – and some challenges you can take on to upgrade it – so you can truly leave nothing behind as you adventure. Here’s why it’s so useful:
1. You can carry an unreasonable amount of stuff. Eventually.
Just like its real-life counterparts, the Herschel backpack allows you to carry more items – a LOT more! As many of you may know, the Minecraft player inventory has 40 slots in total, including equipped items. The Herschel backpack has 288 items slots when fully upgraded – that’s 442,368 items when fully stacked! But what’s the catch? You have to earn that space. Which takes us to the next point...
2. You upgrade the Herschel backpack by completing trials.
When you first equip it, you’ll notice the backpack contains 24 slots – significantly fewer than my daring claim above! But you didn’t expect to carry 442,368 items from the get-go, did you? You have to work your way up to that kind of power. And that’s where the Herschel Trials come in. You’ll be tasked with collecting various blocks and items, storing them in your trusty backpack. With each completed trial, you’ll unlock 24 more slots in your Herschel backpack to fill with beloved trinkets, stacks of dirt, and everything in between.
Plus, with more friends, you can complete more trials! Well, technically you can complete all of them both solo and multiplayer. But you can do it much faster with friends, and they’ll also upgrade their own backpacks in the process! And then you’ll all have MORE STUFF!
3. The backpack can repair your items as you adventure.
You know what’s not so great about stuff? Having to take care of it. But now you can forget all about that! When upgraded with certain special items, the Herschel backpack can sort, deposit, repair, and even smelt items automatically and (of course) on the go. No longer do you need to carry, place, use, pick up, and put away a smelter only to get iron ingots on the go! Pickaxe about to break? Swap it out with a fresh one and let the backpack repair it while you continue to mine!
What about my IRL adventures?
Glad you asked! The in-game Herschel backpack has not one, not several, but more than 30 IRL counterparts in the new Minecraft collection! The adult range draws inspiration from Minecraft’s three dimensions, while the junior range features iconic mobs – allowing adventurers of all ages to explore the world and leave nothing behind. You can find them online at the official Herschel website and select retailers from around the world.
You also have the chance to win the backpack that inspired the Herschel Trials add-on: the Minecraft Herschel Little America™ Cube Backpack in Orange Block! We’re giving away 3 backpacks in total, and you can learn more about how to enter here.
If you also fill up any video game inventory within the first 30 minutes, make sure to check out the Herschel Trials add-on. Never again will you have to abandon even a block of dirt! Available for free at Minecraft Marketplace.
