As an aging millennial, nothing feels more out of reach than being cool – but the Minecraft x Cool Shirtz collection gives this obsolete cheugy girl hope. With designs ranging between a blossoming creeper and what looks like the actual skin of a warden, this collection seems like a surefire way to get the peer validation I so badly crave. And it will be dropping over the next couple of months at shirtz.cool starting today, including clothing, accessories, and decor! 

To see if my theory works, I decided to sneak into our merch vault legitimately obtain a few Cool Shirtz samples and curate some outfits to wear around the office, for research! ‘If I wear these clothes, then I will become cool’ is a perfectly reasonable scientific hypothesis. Here's how my experiment went: 

Enderman hoodie + Enderman sweatpants 

 

I may not know the latest slang, but I just knew that this striking ensemble with the Enderman hoodie and sweatpants would evoke feelings of admiration and even envy. What I did not anticipate was the sheer horror on my teammates’ faces as I welcomed them by standing perfectly still in the corner of the office. When I started borrowing things from their desks without asking – I apparently took it a step too far. After a calm discussion with a third party present, we reached the consensus that my Enderman outfit is indeed very cool but maybe a bit too convincing for the office. 

Sheep sherpa + Sheep ushanka 

 

The next day, I knew I needed to compensate for my faux pas, so I went with the coziest, most non-threatening combo I could conceive – the Sheep sherpa and ushanka. Just look at that fluffy, blocky texture! Those soft ears and kind eyes! My plan was unfolding before my eyes, with compliments and consensual head pats flowing in left and right. What I didn’t expect was falling asleep in the relaxation room, snug inside the warm sherpa, and being awoken by my manager the next morning. Thus, I unintentionally became an outfit repeater. The clothes were cool, but alas I was not quite there. 

Warden hoodie + Hardcore bracelet

 

After clearing it with HR, I decided to give the Warden hoodie a spin and paired it with the Hardcore bracelet. To be safe, I threw in the Golem denim pants to make up for the ominous vibes of my torso. I also tried to stick to the well-lit parts of the office to offset the warden-accurate, hauntingly beautiful stitching on the hoodie. People appreciated my imposing and mysterious vibe, and a few actually called my outfit cool! Nobody called me cool, though. But I was clearly on the right path! 

Mooshroom tee + Flower skirt 

 

To keep my fans coworkers on their toes, I leaned into the cutesy side of things again with the Mooshroom tee and Flower skirt for a peaceful pasture vibe. Who would’ve thought a fungus-covered cow could be so iconic? In fact, people loved my outfit so much that simply getting to my desk took almost half a day. Every few steps, another person would walk up to me and demand that I tell them where I got it. My ego had never been more inflated, but it was official: I was now an office style icon and quite close to being cool. 

While the Mooshroom ensemble proved very successful, I feared the long-term consequences for my career. Enderman and sleep incident aside, it turns out that talking about fashion for nearly four hours “for research” isn’t top performer behavior. So for my last outfit, I had to pick something cool and professional... 

Tools of the Trade jumper + Crafting pants  + Tool necklace

 

Nothing says ‘I’m here to work’ like tools! The universal symbol of hard, character-building, back-block-breaking work. The Tools of the Trade jumper and Tool necklace were the obvious choice for a writer that meant business. And it worked! Together with the Crafting pants, this outfit earned me several appreciative nods and a few compliments, but zero work-disrupting discussions on the jumper’s tasteful two-tone checker pattern.  

With my mission completed and my experiment successful, I’ve never felt cooler. Now all I have to do is keep it up by wearing something just as cool every day, forever! I’ll start by getting the entire Minecraft x Cool Shirtz collection just to be safe and then go from there. Once I’ve exhausted all the combos, I guess I’ll just move to a different city and do it all over again! To be fair, nobody said looking cool would be easy.
