Hey you! Yeah, you! Do you wanna take it outside right now? Cause the weather here is amazing – spring has officially hit Sweden, we’re putting away our leather armor, and getting our skins beach biome-ready! Today’s release is going all out on being outgoing!

How do I play the new Java Realms maps?

Boot up Minecraft on your device of choice, then find Minecraft Realms in the main menu. Press the “Configure” button, then choose the “Reset World” option on the Realm slot you’re ok with overwriting (or use the “Minigame” slot for minigames). Now you can pick the map you want to play from the corresponding categories!

MINIGAME: WAR GAMES

Kubb is a classic Swedish spring & summertime game, where two teams line up wood blocks on opposite sides, try their best to knock them over by throwing a small wooden pin at them, and then resign in frustration when neither team can accomplish this simple feat. So, the game has some gameplay issues. What about adding an economy simulator, where you have to raise villagers, have them gather resources for you to spend on recruiting an army to handle the block-knocking? And why not just have them fight at that point? War Games is the game for you, and next time I’m going out for a picnic, this is what I’m playing (attention picnic going friends – bring a Minecraft playing device)!

MINIGAME: TRIDENT BLITZ

Conserving your energy is important when you’re out and about – if you’re planning to go to the forest, do some swimming, knock out a hike or two, all before lunchtime. We need to prepare for that. Trident Blitz is a minigame where the opposing teams can construct their own pathways to reach the enemy, but you’re working with a limited number of blocks – use up too many blocks to construct guardrails and rest spots on the way there, the rest of the way might need to be a spartan parkour course!

INSPIRATION: SUNKEN STRONGHOLD

I have so many places I want to visit and check out this spring, I might have to spend some time inside drafting a spreadsheet first, so I don’t miss anything! That goes double for Sunken Stronghold – this is one of the bigger Inspiration maps we’ve had in a while, starting at a massive castle, with different regions such as: an island of massive gems with a huge academy, and a coliseum with mob fight challenges – all with a sprawling underground sewer system connecting the entire map and leading to hidden areas deep below the surface. I might actually need to put some of those outdoor plans on the burner since I could be here for a while!
