New on Java Realms: MONSTROUS SUMMER
Published: July 29, 2026 - View official source
Here in Sweden, the sun is shining (most days). The streets are full of people wearing sunglasses they definitely just bought, flowery summer dresses are twirling in the refreshing breeze, and even the seagulls seem to be in a suspiciously good mood. It’s the kind of weather that makes you want to grab an ice cream, sit on a bench, and pretend you’re a Minecraft villager on vacation.
Sun, beaches, and ice cream‑themed maps would have been the perfect fit for a July release. But if there’s one thing this month reminds me of, it’s that Halloween, my personal favorite time of year, is creeping closer with the subtlety of a zombie in full daylight.
This month’s release is packed with all sorts of summer‑friendly adventures. You can gather your friends and play games like Armada or Codenames, or head out exploring across Island of the Crown, Prismatic Mines, or Overgrown Canopy. Feeling extra breezy? Hop on a boat and glide across the icy maze in Dune Rush – it’s basically summer… but colder.
And if you’re like me and your parkour skills are, let’s say, “artistically unpredictable,” you can skip the jumping entirely and wander through the spooky halls of Haunted Hotel, feed The Hungry in Snack Attack, or discover who (or what) is lurking in Pallid Gardens.
How do I play the new Java Realms maps?
Boot up Minecraft on your device of choice, then find Minecraft Realms in the starting menu. Press the “Configure” button, then choose the “Reset World” option on the Realm slot you’re ok with overwriting (or use the “Minigame” slot for minigames). Now you can pick the map you want to play from the corresponding categories!
Summer vibes, Check! Spooky vibes Check – July really has it all.
MINIGAME: SNACK ATTACK
by Yikl, CurvyWhisper
Nothing is more refreshing than snacking on a watermelon in the summer heat, but nobody takes snacking more seriously than The Hungry, the mysterious creature hiding in the well of this minigame. It has one hobby, one passion, one life goal: eating absolutely everything it can get its claws on.
Together with your friends, you must collect the Snacks that The Hungry is craving. Whoever feeds it the most items wins. It sounds simple, right? But The Hungry has the attention span of a sugar‑powered baby zombie. Sometimes it wants a carrot. Sometimes it demands a very specific fish from the pond. Other times it suddenly decides it needs cookies or cakes, and you have to sprint around gathering ingredients and crafting them in the bakery before the timer runs out.
It is chaotic, it is silly, and it is the most dramatic snacking session you will ever experience in Minecraft.
ADVENTURE: THE HAUNTED HOTEL
by Runic Core
Tired of the sun and the heat? Check in at the Haunted Hotel, a place where cold spots are as common as breathing and where every tiny sound makes you wonder if someone (or something) is tiptoeing right behind you. It is the perfect getaway if you enjoy a little chill with your sunshine.
If you like parkour, swimming through terrifying water mazes, flying over bubbling lava, or fighting monsters that definitely woke up on the wrong side of the Nether, you have found the right place. There is so much to discover at this (literally) breathtaking hotel! If you manage to collect all the right keys, a mysterious door might even open for you... I am far too scared to check, so you will have to be braver than me to find out what is waiting behind it.
And for the book nerds like me, there is a wonderful library tucked away inside the hotel. If you are lucky, you can fin-AAAAAAAAaaaaaaa..aaaa...a....
INSPIRATION: PALLID GARDENS
by colonizes & amiu
If you ever wanted to explore a place that feels like summer vacation and ghost hunting at the same time, Pallid Gardens is exactly that. The air is warm, the sky is bright, and yet the gardens themselves feel strangely pale, almost like the sun decided to take a break the moment you walked in. Explore the garden where ghosts drift around above you like they are stuck in spectator mode and strange witch huts cover the ground, some hiding mysterious notes left behind by those who used to live there. A few huts even have cauldrons bubbling with potions that look like they were brewed by someone who definitely failed Potion Class at least twice.
I tried investigating, but one of the garden lanterns flickered at me like a redstone torch having an identity crisis, and I decided that was enough mystery for the day. You will have to be braver than me and uncover what is really going on inside Pallid Gardens.
