New Realms “Administrator” Role Coming
シリアル-VMinecraft Developer CornerHard announced an upcoming Minecraft Realms “Administrator” role that goes beyond Operator by controlling Realm settings like worlds, members, roles, and hub configuration (non-billing features), with Operators still limited to gameplay permissions; release timing is unknown but is expected after version 26.10.
On March 6, 2026, Minecraft Developer CornerHard posted on X (formerly Twitter) announcing a new feature coming to Realms that will greatly impact the way Realms are managed.
What is the Administrator Role?
The Administrator role is different from the Operator permission. An important distinction is Operator is a gameplay permission, meaning the permissions are limited to gameplay in a world, while Administrator is a role, meaning the permissions extend to the Realm settings.
Administrator Permissions
- Manage worlds
- Manage Realm settings
- Add and remove Realm members
- Set member roles
- It's not understood what this could mean yet as the only roles available at the moment are Player and Administrator, and Administrators cannot give other members Administrator.
- Set member gameplay permissions
- Manage hub settings
- Download worlds
- Other non-billing related settings
These are the only permissions confirmed at this time, expect more permissions to be available on release.
When is it Coming?
An exact date isn't yet available, but what we do know is it's coming soon. CornerHard replied to a comment on the post saying the release will come some time after 26.10 (next update).
