The cuteness continues… forever!

Have you stopped squealing with joy at all the new baby mob designs in Minecraft? Me neither, and honestly, I’m starting to lose my voice. But this piece of news is something I have to shout from the rooftops – because as well as a host of aquatic baby redesigns splish-splashing their way into Minecraft, this testing moment also brings a craftable item that’ll ensure your favorite baby mobs stay babies FOREVER!
BREAKING NEWS: Minecraft discovers the secret to eternal youth
You heard it here first! All you need to keep baby mobs babies forever is a golden dandelion*! And then your kittens never need to grow out of their “sit right in front of the door” phase, your foals can stay fluffy, and your piglets OINKINGLY CUTE! What do you mean I’m shouting again? Oops, sorry…!
You can unlock the crafting recipe for golden dandelions by breeding your first mob. Then you’ll need to hunt down a dandelion (don’t worry, you can find them all over the Overworld) and combine it with 8 gold nuggets – and voila! You suddenly have a very expensive bouquet an elixir of youth that’ll keep your mounts mini and your baby chickens square and yellow!
Of course, if you change your mind and decide your wolf pup should grow up enough to come adventuring with you, then fear not! Feeding a baby mob another golden dandelion will allow them to grow into full-sized adult mobs.
Look! I did that whole paragraph without shouting once! But don’t worry, once you see the school of baby mobs swimming into the game, we’ll all be screaming again…
Meet new aquatic baby mobs
Baby axolotls
If you thought axolotls couldn’t get any cuter then clearly you haven’t seen their new baby designs! I nearly cried when I spied my first baby axolotl (and no, that had nothing to do with the drowned swimming towards me at speed). It’s because they’re so cute and they come in five different colors and I HAVE TO COLLECT ALL OF THEM.
Baby squid & baby glow squid
Both sorts of baby squid are getting a glow-up in Minecraft, with tinier tentacles and big, doleful eyes! Why does the baby squid look a bit sad, you ask? It’s because you haven’t gone to find it yet! You’ll spy them swimming around in rivers and oceans across the Overworld, so dive down and meet them. Don’t keep this cute critter waiting a moment more.
Baby dolphins
These bottle-nosed cuties can be found in oceans, and just like their adult counterparts, they like to swim with players! I didn’t realise “become besties with a baby dolphin” would be on my Minecraft bucket list for 2026 but here we are, and I AM DELIGHTED.
Baby turtles
Now, it’s a good job my voice is almost completely gone, because we’re about to meet one of the smallest baby mobs in the game, and we don’t want to startle it. Look at the baby turtle! This adorably tiny mob is only a few pixels tall, and you’re going to want to protect it with your life. Baby turtles love the taste of seagrass too – so if you want to become fast friends with these teeny turtles, make sure to have some in your inventory! I’M NOT CRYING. YOU’RE CRYING.
To meet all these new babies and craft a golden dandelion for yourself, you’ll need to hop into testing!
How can I test these features?
You can test these features by enabling snapshots for Minecraft: Java Edition, or by enabling previews/beta* for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. To install a snapshot, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the "Installations" tab. To turn on an experiment in preview/beta for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition follow these instructions.
Golden dandelions are coming today to Java snapshot, and soon to Bedrock beta and preview.
Send us your feedback!
These features are all still in development, which means that the details outlined above might change as we iterate on them. So then why have we released them into testing? Because we want your feedback! Send your thoughts here, and report bugs at bugs.mojang.com!
