My granddad and I didn’t fight often, but when it came to whose turn it was with the Tetris game, villain origin stories were almost created. Look, we spent every summer crammed into a cabin that had two tv-channels, no wifi, far too many relatives, and phone reception only on top of this one hill. Family dynamics were bound to be put to the test. Still, the rising panic of too many misplaced Tetriminos is a thrill worth fighting for. Not to mention the satisfaction of watching four rows blinking into oblivion!

After bringing the iconic blocks to your Minecraft worlds with the Tetris add-on earlier this year, it's your turn to visit the Tetris universe in a new dungeon crawling adventure in the Tetris DLC. And yes, that includes a healthy dose of rising panic, Line-Clearing rewards, and, best of all, villains.

Strategic 2D Tetris meets 3D dungeon crawling

In this dungeon crawler, you begin by playing the classic 2D version of Tetris, but with a catch – the Tetris shapes, known as Tetriminos, have been stolen. It’s my granddad the Tetrimonster who, after watching players place blocks wrong since the 1960s, has broken out of the game to seek vengeance. It’s your job to find the Tetriminos and bring them back. So how do you do that? The grid of blocks remaining after your round of 2D Tetris transforms into a 3D dungeon layout hiding not only the missing Tetriminos, but plenty of surprises – some more welcome than others!

Each time you play, you face a unique dungeon. The Tetriminos you use, the paths you make, and even how many lines you clear result in new traps, loot, and surprises around every corner. Solve puzzles, scavenge for rewards, and fight monsters as you make your way to the top. There await new Tetriminos that will fill the next dungeon you generate with even more secrets.

Should you get nostalgic for the classic modes, you can also play the original 2D Tetris in the lobby. Put your block-rotating skills to the ultimate test in Marathon, Sprint, and Ultra modes – complete with SRS-compliant Tetrimino action. Get high enough scores and you’ll even earn some trophies for your room!

Want to know the best part? The entire Tetris DLC, including all gameplay modes, is available in multiplayer. That means you can stop fighting over who gets to play and start fighting over whose fault it was you lost that boss fight.
