Chemistry Update
Chemistry Update introduced interactive chemistry tools for classroom experiments. This Minecraft Education update released as 1.0.27, with its rollout dated February 22–March 6, 2018.
Classroom Tools
Chemistry Workstations
The Chemistry Update added four interactive workstations:
- Element Constructor: adjust Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons to represent the 118 elements and their isotopes.
- Compound Creator: combine elements into compounds used by the chemistry system.
- Material Reducer: examine supported Minecraft materials and recover their represented chemical components.
- Lab Table: combine selected ingredients and observe the result of an experiment.
These tools connect atomic structure and compounds with visible interactions inside a Minecraft world.
Items and Experiments
Chemistry Products
Balloons, Glow Sticks, Sparklers, and Colored Torches turn chemical ingredients into objects players can use in a lesson. Their crafting introduces a practical reason to work with the Element Constructor and Compound Creator.
Other distinctive products include Bleach,
Ice Bombs, Underwater Torches, and Underwater TNT. The underwater variants extend ordinary Minecraft interactions into environments where the normal versions behave differently.
Education Features
This update belongs to Minecraft Education, rather than being a separate Java or Bedrock game drop. Chemistry can support classroom experiments and demonstrations alongside Minecraft’s building tools.
Platform Releases
The initial 1.0.27 release reached macOS on February 22, 2018, and Windows on March 6, 2018. The dates are separated in the infobox to reflect that rollout.
