Armored Paws
Armored Paws paired armadillos with tougher, more varied wolves. The game drop released on April 23, 2024 as Java Edition 1.20.5 and Bedrock Edition 1.20.80.

Armadillo
Armadillos inhabit Savanna and Badlands biomes. Spider Eyes attract them and can be used for breeding, while their protective shell gives players a reason to watch how they approach wildlife.
- Sprinting players, mounted players, nearby undead mobs, and recent attacks can make an Armadillo curl up. It occasionally peeks out to check for danger.
- A rolled-up Armadillo reduces incoming physical damage. It cannot curl up while in water, riding a vehicle, or attached to a lead.
- Armadillos shed a Scute every 5–10 minutes. Using a Brush collects another Scute at the cost of brush durability.
- Spiders and Cave Spiders avoid Armadillos that are standing rather than rolled up.

The original Wolf became the Pale Wolf, joined by eight new appearances. Existing wolves keep their pale appearance when a world is updated.

Tamed Wolves now have 40 health points, up from 20, and food restores twice as much health. Previously tamed wolves need feeding to reach the increased maximum. Their collar texture was also refreshed. [1]

Wolf Armor
Wolf Armor
Craft Wolf Armor from six Armadillo Scutes to protect a tamed companion. The armor absorbs most damage that would otherwise hit the wolf, with visible wear showing when it needs attention.
- Use more Scutes to repair damaged armor.
- Dye it to personalize the wolf’s appearance.
- Remove it with Shears.
- The existing Scute item was renamed Turtle Scute, distinguishing the two materials.
Other Highlights
Java Edition added unique Cobweb sounds alongside the new mob and equipment sounds. Armored Paws brought the Armadillo, the winner of the 2023 Mob Vote, into the released game.
