Library Update
Library Update made classroom content easier to discover through the in-game library. This Minecraft Education update released as 1.12.5, with its rollout dated November 12, 2019.
Classroom Tools
In-Game Library
The Library Update reorganized how educators and students find playable content. Lesson Plans, Worlds, Build Challenges, and Tutorials became easier to browse through the in-game Library and its categories.
Instead of starting with an empty world for every activity, a classroom could find a prepared experience and use its supporting material to establish a goal.
Build Challenges and Tutorials
Build Challenges supplied shorter creative prompts that could fit a focused session. Tutorials provided a route to learning controls and common activities before moving into a larger lesson.
Content Access
Demo content could be explored without a full signed-in account, giving new users a way to try selected experiences. Lesson resources were brought closer to their associated worlds, reducing the separation between finding an activity and understanding how to run it.
Release Context
This was a minor Minecraft Education update following Back to School. Its focus was lesson discovery and preparation rather than a new collection of Survival mobs or biomes.
Minecraft Education 1.12.5 released on November 12, 2019. The page’s screenshots document that period’s interface; they should not be treated as a promise that the current Library looks identical.
