Chromebook Release

Chromebook Release expanded Education Edition to Chromebooks and refreshed its gameplay features. This Minecraft Education update released as 1.14.31, with its rollout dated August 7, 2020.

Platforms and Access

Chromebook Support

ChromeOS support brought Minecraft Education to Chromebooks, expanding the devices available for classroom worlds and lessons. The release combined a new platform with features from the Bedrock 1.12–1.14 period.

Mobs and Gameplay

Bees and Foxes

Bee Bee

Bees, Bee Nests, Beehives, Honey, and related blocks added a pollination and harvesting cycle. Foxes and other recent gameplay additions expanded the animal roster available in Education worlds.

Brown Mooshrooms and Suspicious Stew supplied further interactions from the shared feature set, giving educators more material for experiments and themed builds.

Classroom Tools

Sharing Activities

Library integration with Microsoft Teams and Google Classroom helped educators share activities through familiar classroom services. The update connected content discovery with the platforms used to organize a class.

NPC Skins

Five Bee-themed NPC skins added characters for lessons, demonstrations, and in-world instructions. Their artwork complements the new Bee content without being ordinary Survival mobs.

Release Context

The Chromebook Release arrived as Minecraft Education 1.14.31 on August 7, 2020. It followed the Library Update and expanded both access and gameplay before the subsequent Learn to Code update.
