Mounts of Mayhem
Mounts of Mayhem expanded mounted combat across land and sea. The game drop released on December 9, 2025 as Java Edition 1.21.11 and Bedrock Edition 1.21.130.
Items and Combat
Spears
Spear
Spears support a jab for close encounters and a charge that rewards movement speed. Their reach lets riders strike from farther away than a Sword. Seven tiers cover Wood, Stone, Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, and Netherite.
Craft the basic tiers with two Sticks and the relevant material. Upgrade a Diamond Spear to Netherite at a Smithing Table. Lunge, a Spear-only enchantment with three levels, propels the player forward during a jab at the cost of hunger and durability.
Mount Armor
Netherite Horse Armor
Netherite Horse Armor is made by upgrading Diamond Horse Armor with a Netherite Upgrade Template and Netherite Ingot. Nautilus Armor comes in Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, and Netherite tiers: find the first four in ocean structure loot and upgrade Diamond to Netherite.
Mobs
Nautilus
Nautilus
Nautiluses are ocean mounts that can be tamed and bred using Pufferfish or Buckets of Pufferfish. Equip a Saddle to ride one, then use its dash for a burst of movement. They are immune to Poison but dehydrate on land.
While riding a Nautilus or Zombie Nautilus, Breath of the Nautilus freezes the rider’s oxygen bar, supporting longer underwater expeditions.
Zombie Nautilus
Zombie Nautilus
The undead counterpart can spawn with a Trident-wielding Drowned rider. A coral-covered variant occurs in Warm Oceans. Zombie Nautiluses cannot breed and burn in sunlight unless protected by Nautilus Armor; unlike living Nautiluses, they do not dehydrate on land.
Camel Husk and Parched
Camel Husk
Desert nights gained Camel Husk jockeys with a Spear-wielding Husk and a
Parched rider. Camel Husks can be tempted and healed with Rabbit’s Feet and do not burn in sunlight.
Parched are desert Skeleton variants that fire Arrows of Weakness, resist Weakness themselves, and remain active in sunlight.
Zombie Horses
Zombie Horse
Zombie Horses now spawn naturally in Plains and Savannas at night, carrying Zombies with Iron Spears. Red Mushrooms tempt and heal them. Saddles and Horse Armor can be equipped, with armor protecting the horse from sunlight.
Travel and Other Changes
- Horses, Donkeys, Mules, Camels, and Zombie Horses can stay afloat while ridden. Riders still dismount if their heads go underwater.
- Several humanoid mobs can spawn holding Spears and use charge attacks.
- Spawn Eggs are grouped by theme in the Creative inventory.
- Java Edition’s Leather Horse Armor texture was brought closer to its Bedrock appearance.
