The Copper Age
The Copper Age turned copper into a much broader building, equipment, and automation material. The game drop released on September 30, 2025 as Java Edition 1.21.9 and Bedrock Edition 1.21.111.
Mobs and Automation
Copper Golem
Copper Golem
Place a Carved Pumpkin or Jack o’Lantern on a Block of Copper to create a Copper Golem and Copper Chest. The golem carries stacks of up to 16 items from Copper Chests to nearby Chests or Trapped Chests. It chooses an empty destination or one already containing the same item.
Copper Golems oxidize over time. Wax preserves their appearance, an Axe removes oxidation, and lightning removes oxidation without damaging the golem. Fully oxidized golems become statues.
Copper Golem Statues
Statues offer Standing, Running, Sitting, and Star poses. Interacting changes the pose, and each pose produces its own Comparator signal. Scraping oxidation off a statue can eventually restore a living golem.

Copper Storage and Decoration
Copper Chest
Copper Chests hold items like ordinary Chests and join into a large Chest when paired. Their oxidation and waxed variants make storage part of copper’s changing palette.
The expanded set includes Copper Bars, Copper Chains, Copper Torches, Copper Lanterns, and oxidized or waxed Lightning Rods. Bars, Chains, Lanterns, and Chests can weather alongside other copper blocks. Ordinary Chains were renamed Iron Chains.
Shelves
Shelves, crafted from Stripped Logs, display and store three stacks of items. Power a Shelf with redstone to swap its contents with the rightmost hotbar slots. Connecting powered Shelves extends the swap to more slots, providing a compact way to change a working inventory. [1]
Items and Equipment
Copper Tools and Armor
Copper Pickaxe
Copper adds Swords, Axes, Pickaxes, Shovels, Hoes, and a complete wearable armor set. Tools deal the same damage as Stone equipment but last longer; their mining speed sits between Stone and Iron. Copper Armor provides 10 armor points for a complete set.
Copper Horse Armor adds another option for mounts and comes from loot rather than crafting. Smelting copper equipment produces Copper Nuggets, with nine Nuggets converting to an Ingot.
Other Highlights
- Dye textures were redesigned with distinct shapes to make colors easier to distinguish.
- Copper Trapdoor crafting changed to four Copper Ingots for one Trapdoor.
- Iron Golems can place a Poppy on a Copper Golem’s head; the flower can be removed with Shears.
