Spring to Life
Spring to Life gave familiar landscapes new life through animal variants, plants, and ambient details. The game drop released on March 25, 2025 as Java Edition 1.21.5 and Bedrock Edition 1.21.70.
Mobs
Climate-Based Farm Animals
Cow
Pig
Chicken
Cows, Pigs, and Chickens now have Temperate, Warm, and Cold variants. Naturally spawned animals reflect their biome’s climate; breeding chooses one of the parents’ variants instead of using the current biome.
Cold Chickens lay Blue Eggs, Warm Chickens lay Brown Eggs, and Temperate Chickens retain ordinary Eggs. Hatching a colored Egg can produce the corresponding Chicken variant.
Sheep, Wolves, and Camels
- Sheep’s common wool color follows the climate: White in temperate areas, Black in cold areas, and Brown in warm areas. Pink remains rare.
- Wolves gained six additional sound personalities alongside the Classic sounds, assigned when they spawn.
- Camels can spawn across Desert biomes rather than only in Desert Villages.
- Cow and Mooshroom faces received an updated snout and texture.
Plants and Building
New Ground Cover
Leaf Litter
- Leaf Litter decorates forests and Wooded Badlands. Up to four pieces share one block space; smelting Leaves provides another way to obtain it.
Wildflowers grow in Birch Forests and Meadows, also sharing a block space in groups of up to four. They craft Yellow Dye.- Bushes add low-growing foliage to Plains, forests, rivers, and windswept terrain.
- Short and Tall Dry Grass populate Deserts and Badlands and can be burned as fuel.
- Cactus Flowers grow on Cacti and can be placed on full blocks or crafted into Pink Dye.
Firefly Bushes
Firefly Bush
Firefly Bushes grow near rivers and in swamps. In dim light they emit firefly particles, and at night they add buzzing ambience. The fireflies are particles rather than separate mobs.
World Generation and Ambience
Java Edition gained Fallen Trees, including Oak, Birch, Spruce, and Jungle forms, with occasional stumps, Mushrooms, or Vines. Leaf blocks across the game gained falling particles. Desert ambience includes sounds from Dead Bushes and suitable surrounding terrain.
Items and Exploration
- Cartographers sell new Village, Jungle Explorer, and Swamp Explorer Maps, with selections that depend on their village biome.
- Wandering Traders offer improved prices, larger stocks, Logs, and additional supplies, and can buy selected everyday items from players.
- Lodestones now use an Iron Ingot instead of Netherite in their recipe and can be found in Ruined Portals.
- Spawn Eggs received distinct designs based on their mobs.
- Bundles can appear in Village chest loot.
